Ewa Gutman ACAS, MAAA
Ewa Gutman is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries with more than twenty five years’ experience in the casualty-property insurance industry.
Ms. Gutman is one of the country’s leading experts in reinsurance. While Chief Corporate Actuary and Vice President for a worldwide reinsurer, she was responsible for corporate reserves, financial analysis and planning, total profitability studies, preparation of Schedule P in the Annual Statement, and reporting to A.M. Best’s rating agency.
Before joining Taylor & Mulder, Ms. Gutman was Vice President at a major reinsurance broker where she estimated ultimate losses for Fortune 1000 corporations at various reinsurance layers and was involved in negotiations with the reinsurers on behalf of those corporations. She was responsible for supporting the treaty brokers, rating casualty and specialty lines of business such as D&O, lawyer’s malpractice, trucker’s liability and umbrella liability reinsurance contracts. Ms. Gutman also provided actuarial services to facultative brokers by working closely with their clients on arrangements for the casualty program business.
Ms. Gutman has presented her results to corporate boards, finance committees, audit committees and corporate management including legal and accounting departments.
Ms. Gutman was responsible for the development of the consulting practice in Eastern Europe for one of the major US consulting firms. She participated in feasibility studies of new markets (Czech, Hungary, and Poland) for her clients and for the European Union. She connected clients in the USA and Germany with the emerging markets companies available for acquisition.
